Client Problem Description
The previous Mathers website presented users with more problems than solutions. A complete re-vamp was required where the aim was to entice VIP registration, provide a store locator function and present the Mathers team with an updatable administration system.The aim of the website was to provide the user with up-to-date content through a minimalist interface.
The administration section provides the administrator with user feedback throughout the site updating process. This allows an untrained employee to login and begin updating the site. User feedback guides the administrator through the updating process, this explains and clarifies the actions required to obtain the desired results.
Timeline
The entire project from planning to development took approximately 2 months. There was no deadline set.
Delivery Method
The website was developed using a mixture of both HTML, Flash, PHP and mySQL.
Target Audience
Mathers have a well established target audience. This audience consists largely of females aged 18 to 28 but includes males of similar age as well as children. The simple layout and menu system was designed to draw attention to the site content alongside cross platform compatibility.
Implemented Solution/Service
The first challenge was to plan the structure of the site to minimise download time, this was solved by breaking apart the interface into several smaller sections. These sections load as the user advances throughout the site.
Research was required to develop the postcode data search. This search function is determined by calculating the desired search radius in relation to store location and the user's postcode.
Contact time with the Mathers team was required to ensure the system was built strictly to their requirements.
The Mathers website was designed to provide Mathers with an interface for customers to view the latest products and promotions. The site was to focus on providing a store locator and a VIP registration section. All content throughout the site was to be updatable through a secure PHP administration.
