Project Details
Client Problem Description
The client required a collection of small learning objects, all based around an Aztec theme. The learning objects had to educate students within a variety of study areas – English, Geography, Mathematics & Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE). The main purpose of the learning objects is to educate, but they also require a certain level of interaction & originality to attract the user & keep them stimulated.
Timeline
The development for this project took approximately 1 month. During this time, QMG had to work closely with DLU, keeping the development under continuous scrutiny to ensure the learning objects were designed and developed in the most user friendly and appealing way, while still retaining its educational principles.
Delivery Method
This object had to be delivered online via Blackboard, Education Queensland’s e-Learning system used for delivering online courses.
Target Audience
The object has been targeted towards middle years distance education students (years 4 to 9).
Implemented Solution/Service
QMG developed 30 Flash learning objects. The majority of the learning objects are simple drag and drop and text entry activities, testing the student's knowledge of the subject in a fun and interactive way.
Because there were going to be so many learning objects, the file size of each one had to be as small as possible. This ensures there will be little to no waiting time when viewing online. The file size of the majority of the learning objects was under 15kb, with almost half being under 5kb! This is extremely small for a Flash application.
The interactivity of the learning objects range, but each and every one achieves its objective of being both engaging and educational.
